Wren Giesen

Biography

Wren Ansell Giesen (1917-2014), a native of San Marcos. attended San Marcos High School and graduated from Southwest Texas State Teachers College in 1937 with a degree in accounting and English.  After working briefly in College Station, she returned to San Marcos and eventually went to work for the ROTC commandant at SWT.


Giesen was interviewed as part of a project designed to connect high school students with long-time San Marcos residents.  The interview appears in The Ties That Bind, a book edited Oren Renick, Randall Osborne, and Megan Hamid. 


 

LBJ100 Oral History Project

Wren Giesen talks about her memories of Lyndon Johnson, who as a student would be sent by President Evans to deliver articles about sporting events to her mother – a local correspondent for the San Antonio Express. She also talks about what campus was like when she was a student in the 1930s, and recounts some of her experiences of Lyndon visiting campus when she worked in the Main Building.
