Rose Brooks

Biography

Mrs. Rose Brooks (1933- ), a lifelong San Marcos resident, is a former employee of Community Action and Gary Job Corps. A graduate of Huston-Tillotson University, she is a community and political activist.


Brooks was interviewed as part of a project designed to connect high school students with long-time San Marcos residents.  The interview appears in The Ties That Bind, a book edited Oren Renick, Randall Osborne, and Megan Hamid.

Mrs. Brooks talks about growing up in San Marcos beginning in the 1930s, covering topics including segregation, Community Action, Gary Job Corp Center, civil rights, and Lyndon Johnson’s legacy.
